Dr. Howard Shareff
Meet the Doctor
Dr. Howard Shareff grew up in Queens, New York City. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from University of New York. Then he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1982. To broaden his training, Dr. Shareff completed a Dental General Practice Residency at East Carolina University School of Medicine. To further learn about patient care in private practice, Dr. Shareff was a full-time associate in a multiple office practice based in Rocky Mount, N.C. This lead him to his current location, a renovated home in Raleigh.
Dr. Shareff opened his office in 1987 with a desire for patients to feel "at home." This begins with the first phone call or patient referral. Dr. Shareff emphasizes listening to the patients' concerns, clarifying insurance benefits as best as possible, and addressing shared treatment objectives.
Dr. Shareff has maintained his required general dentistry education as well as advanced training in orthodontics. Patients have the options for removable appliances, conventional braces with wires, and the Invisalign program.
Dr. Shareff has been a guest lecturer for first year dental students at the UNC School of Dentistry for the last 8 years. He shares stories, insights and optimistic philosophy with our future practitioners. Dr. Shareff is passionate about his whole teams' supportive relationship with the patient. Everyone seeks to understand what issues exist, and how they can create the best experience possible for even the most anxious individual. Dr. Shareff reviews treatment options and makes sure that the patients are aware of the possible costs, risks and benefits. Dr. Shareff strongly believes that ones' dental health influences and reflects whole body wellness.
Outside of the office, Dr. Shareff actively participates in his synagogue as chairman of the men's club, a volunteer service group. Dr. Shareff plays recreational softball and tennis. He follows a regular stretching and yoga regimen. His family includes a wife with her own career, and two young adult children.
